Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects movement. It occurs when brain cells that produce dopamine, a chemical needed for smooth muscle movement, begin to deteriorate. Symptoms include tremors, stiffness, slow movement, and balance problems. The disease worsens over time, affecting daily activities and independence. Treatment typically includes medications, physical therapy, and in some cases, surgery to manage symptoms.
