PARALYSIS & STROKE
Paralysis is the loss of muscle function in part or all of the body, often caused by nerve damage or injury. It can affect movement, sensation, or both, and may occur suddenly or gradually. A stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is interrupted, causing brain cells to die and leading to possible paralysis. Symptoms of a stroke include sudden numbness, confusion, and difficulty speaking or moving. Treatment for paralysis and stroke includes emergency care, rehabilitation, and therapy to improve recovery and function.
HOW TO PREVENT PARALYSIS & STROKE
Paralysis and stroke are serious medical conditions caused by damage to the brain, spinal cord, or nerves. Many cases can be prevented by controlling risk factors and following a healthy lifestyle.
1. Control Blood Pressure
- High blood pressure is the biggest risk factor for stroke. Check BP regularly and take medicines as prescribed.
2. Manage Diabetes
- Keep blood sugar under control to protect blood vessels and nerves.
3. Maintain Healthy Cholesterol
- High cholesterol blocks blood flow to the brain. Eat low-fat food and take treatment if advised.
4. Eat a Heart-Healthy Diet
- Include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and reduce salt, sugar, and oily foods.
